OK- Just feeling my way around the blog.

I am discouraged by the degree to which high stakes testing impacts my teachers' thinking about teaching and learning. When I read their' blogs- (These are practicing teachers who care about kids-) I see that they are caught in a Catch 22 situation in which their students and their schools lose either way.

They are constantly rubbing up against what they know to best practice and the demands of high stakes testing. It becomes illicit for them to use their own judgement .

I think that "scientific research" is an important way to be heard and to make a difference. That is the tune that is heard and to which we are dancing. SO--

I like the idea of pooling resources to study impact of high stakes testing in a systematic way - that allows for a variety of voices.

We could start by pooling resources for a coordinated effort to conduct a literature review and work from there.
