Education and Accountability
When I went to the doctor yesterday, I read and signed the statement at the bottom of this post. Perhaps, teachers need to fashion one similar to the one below.
"The practice of medicine and surgery is not an exact science. Although good results are expected, there is no guarantee of warranty expressed or implied on the results that may be obtained."
Now think about schools and teachers. The practice of teaching is not an exact science.

Arne Duncan
Question: Will Arne Duncan listen on his LISTENING TOUR? Or will he use the Listening Tour to promote his agenda?

i have been wondering if the United States will ever get out the mess it is in. Energy, Global Warming, Health Care, Education. the Wars, the horrid NCTE Act ad high stakes testing....all are of great concern to me.
I wonder when we will be talking about the limitations of the Harvard School Business model. The past 8 years under the BW has been the worse administration in the White House.
Corruption and greed in this country seem to be par for the course. I sure would like some INTEGRITY in Government. How about some generosity and grace?
I know for a fact that greed and arrogance go together. These qualities have run this country for far too long and we are hurty.
Wake up, folks.

High stakes testing is not vald.
We are measuring all the wrong things.
What ever happened to OBSERVABILITY?
The only way we are going to overcome the lunacy of high stakes testing and NLCB is if we reach the parents/guardians. Those in charge are stuck in a paradigm and they don't know that it doesn't work and will never work.
So, here's the latest from the Arne Duncan. What is he thinking?

It's not over yet!
Some think that NCLB, high stakes testing, and Reading First are out the door. Nope it is not over yet. The standardistos, politicos, and business folks have a lot to lose. They are pulling out all the stops and we cannot remain complacent.
In the meanwhile, parents are being told that they must send their students to school on high stakes testing days or their school will lose money. Isn't this EXTORTION?
Watch those P-whatever councils. They are the next wave and the same people who have taken education out of the hands of professional educators are the ones behind these Councils.
Money, power and having control over are at stake for them.
Liberty. We have forgotten, "Liberty and freedom for ALL."
